Dachverband der Pflege, the umbrella body representing Switzerland's care profession, is on the brink of bankruptcy. The association squandered the momentum it built during the Covid period and around the vote on the care initiative. Instead of building on that energy, its leadership threw itself into an overambitious project that has ended in a financial debacle. A consulting mandate worth a million francs also played a part in the mess. Warnings were raised inside and outside the organisation but appear to have been brushed aside. Members are now asking how their own association allowed matters to slide this far. Unless rescue efforts succeed, the profession could lose its main national voice.
