Al-Huwailah calls for expanded integrated services across cooperative societies
Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr Amthal Al-Huwayla, has ordered an expansion of integrated services inside the central markets of the country's cooperative societies. The goal is to bring essential services closer to the shoppers who depend on the societies for their daily needs. During her visit, she praised one society for setting up bread production facilities and ovens inside its central market. She called that initiative a pioneering move for the sector. Cooperative societies run most of the neighbourhood supermarkets Kuwaitis rely on for groceries. On-site baking of the kind she praised could now spread to other markets under the directive. The announcement did not include a timeline or a list of the services each market will add.
