Agrobank will cover half the cost of postgraduate studies for its employees, starting this year. Staff who enrol in Master's programmes or work toward a Doctor of Philosophy will have 50% of the fees paid by the bank. The announcement came out of Kuala Lumpur, where the bank laid out the new benefit for its workforce. Advanced study is expensive, and many employees abandon the idea of a postgraduate degree once tuition figures sink in. By taking on half the burden, the bank tries to remove that obstacle for anyone ambitious enough to keep learning. Better educated officers should, in theory, bring added expertise to a lender that serves the agricultural sector. There is also a staffing logic at work, since generous study support tends to keep valuable people from leaving. Whether staff take it up in large numbers will depend on how the scheme is applied in practice.

KUALA LUMPUR: Agrobank akan menanggung 50 peratus kos pengajian pekerjanya yang ingin melanjutkan pelajaran ke peringkat Sarjana dan Doktor Falsafah (PhD) bermula tahun ini.
