Seven singing for health groups from across Wicklow are joining forces under one roof for a special performance to mark World Singing Day. Each of the groups is built around the idea that singing together benefits mental and physical wellbeing. Members come from different towns and walks of life, and plenty of them signed up simply to meet people in their community. On the night, every ensemble will take its turn to perform before the singers close the event together. Organisers expect the shared stage to give each group a bigger audience than it would draw on its own. For many members, the evening is as much about the company and the build-up as about the singing itself. World Singing Day, marked around the globe, gives the Wicklow groups a date to invite newcomers along.
