The children's helpline Plavi telefon cannot keep up with the calls coming in. More than 12,000 calls from children have gone unanswered because the service lacks the capacity to take them. Its records show 77,859 contacts handled between 19 February 2013 and 30 April 2025. The contacts came from 13,528 separate users over those twelve years. Every unanswered ring is a child asking for help and getting nothing back. The shortfall raises questions about how the service is funded and staffed. Helplines like this one depend on an operator being available at the exact moment a child dials.
