Sotheby's opens a pop-up space called Chez Sotheby's today, turning a Paris apartment above the Jardin des Tuileries into a collector's home. The exhibition runs from October 19 to October 24, timed with Art Basele Paris week. The artworks on display across the apartment are worth around 150 million dollars in total. The collection stretches from Picasso to Richter, spanning decades of modern and contemporary art. Rather than hang the pieces in a plain gallery, the auction house has staged the rooms the way a private collector would live with them, and added a restaurant to the setup. Sotheby's says this is the most valuable private exhibition it has ever presented in Europe. Paris fills with collectors and dealers during the fair, and the Tuileries neighborhood sits right at the center of the action.
