Magyar Péter: megszüntetjük a tao finanszírozási rendszert
Full story
Péter Magyar, leader of Hungary's opposition Tisza party, has announced that they would abolish the TAO sports financing system. The scheme allows companies to redirect a portion of their corporate tax to sports clubs and federations instead of paying it into the state budget. It has funneled large sums into football academies and other athletic programs over the years. Critics have long faulted the mechanism for channeling money toward beneficiaries with political connections and for limited oversight. Magyar's pledge frames the arrangement as a model to be dismantled if his party takes office. The announcement did not spell out how the lost revenue for sports organizations would be replaced.
