Ukraine keeps fielding interceptor drones against Russian jet-powered attack drones, and the programme is clearly no longer a small one. The government has already signed contracts for a new batch of interceptor drones. Officials put the contracted quantity at a level that "has long exceeded a thousand." Interceptors have become a practical answer because jet drones fly too fast and too unpredictably for many conventional air defenses to catch. Committing to volumes above that mark points to serial production and wide fielding, not experiments. The approach also shifts air defense away from scarce, expensive missiles toward cheaper hardware built for one job.
