Narvik has dropped its World Cup race, and the cancellation came with little warning. The Norwegian venue's withdrawal leaves a gap in the winter schedule. FIS, the sport's governing body, is now hunting for an alternative location to stage the competition. The brief note gives no reason for the axing. Late rescheduling is always tight, so the search for a new host will need to move quickly. Teams and their athletes now have to wait to learn where, or whether, the race goes ahead.
