NAF reduces water level at Ondo site after 14 days of recovery efforts
The Nigerian Air Force has made visible progress at the crash site of its ATR 42-500 aircraft in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The plane went down in swampy terrain, and standing water slowed the work from the start. Recovery teams stuck at it for 14 days before the site began to give ground. Over that period they managed to significantly lower the water level around the wreckage. Drier conditions should let personnel and equipment reach spots that were previously inaccessible. Swamps always make this kind of operation slow, since heavy machinery cannot move easily over soft ground. With the water receding, the Air Force can now push the recovery effort into its next stage.
