Morocco's new government has set out a program that places health at the front of its agenda, alongside education, housing and employment. On health, it committed to covering territorial gaps in the provision of medical services so that remote regions are not left behind. It also plans to institutionalize the treatment pathway and overhaul how patients are received, including in emergency departments. Generalizing the urgent medical assistance service and building a unified national health information system form part of the same package. Presenting the program, government head Fatima-Zahra El Mansouri singled out these commitments as the administration's opening priorities. The health measures are meant to run in parallel with completing the sector's institutional reform and strengthening its public health workforce. How quickly the pledges turn into visible change at frontline hospitals is the question many Moroccans will be asking.
