Heavy downpours have flooded Istanbul and its surrounding areas, and the search for victims is still underway. On Monday rescuers found several more bodies in the affected districts. This brought the death toll from the flooding to eight. The rain hammered Turkey's most populous city, overwhelming drains and turning streets into rivers. Emergency crews have remained on site, pumping water and combing through the damage. The scale of the destruction is still becoming clear as the floodwater drains away. With teams still working, the final count of victims may not yet be settled.
