Rwandan ex-military officer who criticises Kagame found dead in Uganda
Robert Kabera, a former sergeant major in the Rwandan army, has been found dead on the outskirts of Kampala in Uganda, and reports say his body was beheaded. Kabera had made a name for himself as an outspoken critic of President Paul Kagame after his time in the military. His criticism positioned him among exiled Rwandan opponents of the government in Kigali. Ugandan authorities discovered the remains and have opened a police inquiry. No arrests have been announced and a motive has not been established. The gruesome killing has unsettled Rwandan exiles who follow cases involving critics of Kagame abroad. Police have not said whether Kabera's political profile features in their investigation.
