Officers of Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested an 85-year-old grandmother in Edo State in possession of 15 bags of cannabis. The seized drugs weighed 179 kilograms in total, according to the agency. The woman, Grace Ehimeka, was taken into custody during a raid in the state. A haul of that size points to trade on a commercial scale rather than personal use. Arrests involving suspects of such an advanced age are rare, and the case quickly drew attention. Ehimeka will now go through the standard legal process under Nigeria's drug laws. The NDLEA has been running steady raids across the country in its crackdown on narcotics.
