A power failure hit the Trauma Hospital in Tirana on Monday afternoon, at around 7:30 in the evening. The entire building was left without electricity for roughly two minutes, with wards and corridors falling dark. Supply was restored immediately afterwards and the hospital carried on without a longer blackout. The timing caused unease because the facility is treating people injured during the protests in the Albanian capital. Emergency hospitals depend on steady current for operating rooms and monitoring equipment. Even a cut of just a couple of minutes can interrupt care for patients in critical condition. No explanation was given for what caused the fault.
