Magallanes finally broke through for its first win of the Venezuelan winter league season, coming from behind to beat Cardenales in Barquisimeto. The Navegantes had lost all six of their previous games, the worst opening in the franchise's history in the LVBP. A start like that stings for a club with Magallanes' following and championship pedigree. Manager Yadier Molina, the former major league catcher, had been under pressure to stop the slide almost from opening day. The comeback win on the road does exactly that, though the record still reads 1-6. Cardenales de Lara, on the other side of the result, fell to 4-2 despite playing at home. One victory does not fix a season, but it keeps the eléctricos from sinking further into the standings.
