Azerbaijan's Oil Fund sees increase in revenues from ACG and Shah Deniz
Full story
The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan has recorded an increase in revenues from the ACG and Shah Deniz projects. ACG, short for Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, is the country's flagship oil block, while Shah Deniz supplies the gas that Azerbaijan ships abroad. Income from these two fields makes up the bulk of what the fund collects through its shareholdings. The rise suggests that sales in the latest reporting period brought in more money than before. SOFAZ channels much of that income to the state budget through annual transfers. Those transfers bankroll social programs and other public spending during the year. The new figures will feed into calculations of how much room the treasury has in next year's budget.
