A 48-year-old businessman known as Datuk Red has filed proceedings to confirm a lafaz rujuk with his former wife. The woman on the other side of the case is the singer Adira Suhaimi, who is 35. In Islamic law, a lafaz rujuk is the declaration through which a divorced couple reconciles and resumes their marriage. The Kuala Lumpur hearing on the matter has been fixed for 8 December. Datuk Red acts as the plaintiff in the proceeding. The December session will determine whether the reconciliation between the two is formally recognized.
