Chris Iyovwaye, the NDC governorship candidate in Delta State, has reacted to the death of former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who died at 71. In his condolence message, Iyovwaye said the legacy the departed leader built will endure. Uduaghan once occupied the governor's office in Delta and stayed a fixture in the politics of the oil-producing state afterwards. Word of his death circulated quickly among politicians in the state, drawing grief from opposite sides of old contests. The short report did not spell out the circumstances of his death. Iyovwaye's tribute carries extra weight because he is chasing the very office Uduaghan once held. In Delta's political circles, the mourning has centred on what he left behind.
