Police rescued a 16-year-old girl in Arau who is believed to have been targeted by a sex-exploitation syndicate operating through a social media application. The teenager was found during a raid on a premises in the northern Malaysian town on the previous night. Officers believe an online app was used to arrange the sexual exploitation. Two men were detained as a result of the operation. The report did not identify the suspects or say what evidence they presented. Police are continuing to examine how the girl was recruited and whether other victims were involved.
