Manchester City is facing the prospect of being relegated from the English Premier League because of a financial scandal. A further points deduction could have consequences beyond the current season, according to the report. The club could then be forced to spend another year in the English second tier. The threat is described as likely to be drastic, although the report does not set out the latest ruling or calculate the exact penalty. It also does not explain which financial transactions are under scrutiny. The report mentions no appeal and gives no final decision from the league. The situation could leave the club outside the top flight for an additional season.
