Evgenia Medvedeva has rejected the idea that her sporting medals make her automatically successful in the arts. The two-time world champion spoke about working as a producer, director and actress as she moves into new professions. She said experience in one area does not remove the need to learn the standards of another. Each new role has required its own training and preparation. Her comments make clear the distance between elite athletic achievement and a separate creative career. Medvedeva is treating the transition as a process of continuing study rather than a direct extension of her success in figure skating.
