With US congressional elections approaching, Democrats see a possible route back to control of Congress. Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia is attracting attention within the party beyond his Senate campaign. Some commentators view him as a possible presidential contender and even as the country’s next president. His immediate task is to help Democrats retake Congress, according to the report. His Senate race is therefore being treated as part of a broader party effort to change the partisan balance in the chamber. No polling figures appear in the account, which also names no particular opponent for Ossoff.
