Državni zbor zavrnil imenovanje Hrovata za vrhovnega sodnika
Slovenia’s National Assembly rejected Boris Gabrijel Hrovat’s proposed appointment as a supreme judge. The vote was 33 in favor and 44 against. It followed the opinion of the MVK, which had assessed the proposed judicial appointment. The SDS said the decision reflected the need to preserve judicial independence, while opposition parties warned that the move was undermining the rule of law. Lawmakers did approve the six remaining judicial candidates put forward. For three of those nominees, the Assembly voted against the MVK’s recommendation. Hrovat’s rejection leaves his proposed place on the supreme court unfilled.
