Torrential rain flooded streets in Piura, Peru, and the Ignacio Merino housing development. Water reached knee level across the affected area. It also entered several homes, bringing the flooding into residential interiors. The downpour followed a recent emergency drill organized by the Ministry of Housing. During that exercise, officials said the motor pumps would be able to operate. Despite that preparation, streets and homes remained under water, and no damage estimate or count of people affected was included.
