NAGRAT accuses NDC of delaying action over Obuasi SHTS abuse allegations
Jacob Anaba, president of the National Association of Graduate Teachers, has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of failing to act quickly on alleged abuse at Obuasi Senior High Technical School. He says party officials knew about the allegations before they became a national scandal. Speaking on JoyNews' Top Story on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Anaba called the party's decision to direct the school's headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, to step aside from the Juaben Constituency Chairmanship race "very, very late". He argued that action should have been taken when the allegations first emerged, rather than after they drew widespread public attention. Anaba cited an investigative video by journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni. According to him, the video alleges that the Municipal Chief Executive visited the school at night to collect a girl who had reportedly been assaulted. Anaba also said the school's housemistress had invited the student.
