Defence Forces officers earning as little as €4 an hour for working overtime
Full story
Some Defence Forces officers are earning as little as €4 an hour for overtime work. The low rate was among the pay concerns raised at the Raco union’s annual conference. It concerns what officers receive when they work beyond their normal hours. Delegates raised a separate issue involving cadet starting pay, which is about €25,000. The two figures cover different stages of a military career but were raised as separate compensation concerns. The conference did not announce a change to either rate. No formal review of military pay was announced at the meeting.
