Artificial intelligence is shifting from software that can recognize and interpret information toward machines that can act in the physical world. Robots and autonomous vehicles now require AI systems to make decisions where errors can damage equipment or injure people. Factory equipment is adding further demands for reliable computing at industrial scale. AMD’s Hiram Monroy analyzed how this transition is changing the way computing resources are designed and deployed. He also examined security concerns as intelligent machines connect with operational infrastructure. Monroy said infrastructure gaps and shortages of specialist talent are constraining AI development in Latin America. The region’s companies will need stronger technical capacity and a larger trained workforce as embodied AI advances.
