Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected a proposal for direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and American President Donald Trump, according to Politico. The proposal was delivered by Steve Witkoff, the American special envoy who traveled to Moscow. It called for a three-way meeting at the highest leadership level. Such a meeting would have been the first of its kind since the war began. The report did not say when Putin rejected the idea or whether Washington had formally accepted the proposed format. It also gave no reason from Moscow for rejecting talks involving Zelenskyy and Trump.
