Portugal’s Socialist Party accused the PSD of making what Luís Testa called payer’s excuses over housing. He also criticized Chega for what he described as constant zigzags in its housing positions. Testa, the vice-president of the Socialist parliamentary group, said the Government and its supporters should not find explanations in the past for their own inaction. He argued that the real issue was the PSD/CDS-PP executive’s inability to answer the housing problems faced by people. The intervention centered on alleged inaction rather than the details of a particular housing program. The statement did not provide housing statistics or identify a specific policy area. It also did not name a housing measure that the executive had refused to act on.
