Oxfam analysis finds Peru’s richest captured 42 percent of all new wealth
Full story
An Oxfam analysis reports that Peru’s richest people captured 42 percent of all new wealth generated between 2019 and 2025. The same estimate says the poorest half of the population received only 1.4 percent of that new wealth. The richest group’s share was therefore about thirty times the total received by the poorest 50 percent. The findings track wealth creation over the period from 2019 through 2025. About 56.6 percent of the new wealth went to the rest of the population. The figures show that Peru’s economic gains were concentrated heavily among its wealthiest citizens.
Only 1.4 percent of all new wealth created between 2019 and 2025 went to the poorest 50 percent, report finds.
