Daniel Vilela, the governor of Goiás, announced on Tuesday the 20th that he will take leave in the first week of November. The absence is intended as a holiday break, and he made the announcement during an agenda in Aparecida de Goiânia, in the metropolitan area of the state capital. Leandro Crispim, president of the Goiás Court of Justice, is expected to act as governor while Vilela is away. Assembly president Bruno Peixoto is also expected to take leave during the same period, which leaves Crispim next in the constitutional succession order. Goiás has no vice governor until December 31, and the state constitution places the Assembly president before the Court of Justice president in a temporary vacancy. Vilela took office after Ronaldo Caiado left the governorship and was reelected in the first round on October 4. He won 59.17 percent of the valid vote, with Luiz do Carmo elected as vice governor. The vice governor-elect will not be in office for the November absence and therefore cannot assume the duties.
