Neighbours spot days of uncollected deliveries, discover 71-year-old dead in Choa Chu Kang flat

A 71-year-old man living alone was found dead in his Choa Chu Kang flat after neighbours spotted he had days of uncollected food deliveries outside his home and smelled a foul odour on Sept 3. The incident occurred in a unit on the third floor of Block 570 Choa Chu Kang Street 52 at around 1.10pm. Nari, one of the neighbours and a domestic helper, told Shin Min Daily News that the unit was occupied by a man who rarely left home and relied on takeout meals and supermarket delivery services for daily necessities. She added that he always kept his door shut and she had not seen him for months. "Sometimes we'd see takeout hanging outside and he'd open the door to get it shortly afterward," said Nari. Uncollected foodShe shared that on Sept 1, food was seen hanging outside his home and had remained uncollected for some time. They also began smelling a foul odour and, worrying that something might have happened to him, called the police. They later discovered that he had died in his home.
