Many youth initiatives create a contradiction between being heard and having actual power. There is a difference between opening a door and allowing someone to actually enter. While young people are often present, they are not always involved in choosing topics. They are frequently excluded from how resources are distributed. They also lack a role in the evaluation process. Presence does not guarantee a seat at the decision-making table.
