A parliamentary commission investigating attacks in schools is working toward a report with far-reaching proposals. The committee has been examining the causes of violence in schools and possible remedies. Commission chairman İsa Mesih Şahin confirmed that the drafting process is still underway. The most striking recommendation so far is the creation of a new regulatory body for digital media, built along the lines of RTÜK. RTÜK already monitors television and radio content across Turkey. The commission argues that online platforms carry just as much influence over children and need comparable oversight. The idea is expected to raise questions about media freedom and the scope of state regulators. The completed report is due once the writing phase concludes.
