GJA President Albert Dwumfour praises Ga Mantse over 2021 election dispute
Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, president of the Ghana Journalists Association, has publicly thanked the Ga Mantse for helping resolve a dispute that stalled the association's leadership transition in 2021. The traditional ruler, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, stepped in at a point when a legal impasse had frozen the GJA's electoral process for close to a year. Dwumfour voiced his appreciation on Friday, October 23, during a courtesy visit by a GJA delegation to the Ga Mantse Palace in Accra. He recalled that the association's elections, first scheduled for 2020, were pushed to 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the general elections held that year. Even after the rescheduling, the process hit a fresh dispute that left members waiting for a settled leadership. The king's intervention helped break the deadlock and allowed the transition to move forward. Dwumfour credited the ruler on behalf of the entire association for clearing the path at a decisive moment.
