Greek police went on alert after a suspicious object was spotted in the Pangrati district of Athens. Officers sealed the area at once, keeping residents and passers-by behind the cordon while the item was investigated. The bomb disposal unit, known by its Greek acronym TEEEM, was sent to the spot to examine and, if needed, neutralise the object. Such calls follow a fixed protocol, with traffic diverted and people nearby told to keep their distance until the all-clear. Authorities have not yet said what the object was or whether it carried any real threat. Most incidents of this kind end with an ordinary explanation, but the response shows how carefully the force treats unattended items in central neighbourhoods. The area remained closed while the examination continued.
