Emir Suljagić pushed back hard against Milorad Dodik's narrative about Serb forces defending Christianity during the war in Bosnia. He pointed straight to Bosanski Šamac as the place where that claim falls apart. According to Suljagić, Serb forces in the town tore down all nine Catholic churches. He recalled the wartime events in that municipality to challenge the story Dodik has been telling. In his view, razing churches across a whole town cannot be squared with talk of a religious mission. The exchange adds another chapter to the long dispute over how the war and its symbols are remembered.
