Primera red de radares meteorológicos en Cuba
Cuba's first weather radar network has its roots in the disasters of 1963 and 1964, when hurricanes Flora and Cleo struck the island. In response, then Prime Minister Fidel Castro ordered the National Meteorological Service strengthened and restructured. One of the measures was to allocate funding for the purchase of two radars to monitor the weather. That decision marked the starting point of the country's radar surveillance network.
<p>Tras el impacto de los huracanes Flora y Cleo en el territorio cubano, en 1963 y 1964, el Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro, entonces Primer Ministro del Gobierno Revolucionario, indicó fortalecer y redimensionar el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional.
