Greece's National Transparency Authority is asking for the permits of the White Coast hotel on Milos to be cancelled. A 90-page report from the authority finds serious irregularities in how the project at Mytakas was licensed. One problem it cites is the lack of access to a road that is legally recognized. The report also counts roughly 503 square metres of extra construction beyond what the permits covered. Beyond cancelling the licences, the authority wants disciplinary proceedings opened against the former head of urban planning who handled the file. The findings feed a wider dispute over hotel building on Greek islands, where inspectors have struggled to keep pace with new projects. It now falls to the services that granted the permits to answer a report with teeth behind it.
