Rivers market will be completed by Jan 2027 — Fubara
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has given traders a firm date on when they will get back to business. He said the rebuilt Creek Road Market in Port Harcourt will be ready by January 2027. The project is meant to move traders who have operated in cramped and worsening conditions since their old stalls were pulled down. Fubara spoke during an inspection and insisted the timeline will not shift. Many traders have complained about delays and the uncertainty of operating from temporary spots. Some rely on daily earnings and cannot afford a long wait. The governor asked them to be patient and promised the finished market will have better facilities than what they left behind. Work continues on the site, and attention will now turn to whether the January 2027 promise is actually met.
