France was hit over the weekend by another wave of mass protests. Demonstrators took to the streets over the high cost of living and what they consider weak funding for education. The marches were followed by widespread unrest, vandalism and looting. Authorities responded by deploying around 70,000 police officers to keep order. Among the sites placed under protection was the Louvre museum.
