Martin, originally from Brandýsko near Kladno, considered moving to Prague for work but could not picture life without a garden. He ultimately purchased an older house that included a plot of land. Assessments showed that refurbishing the existing structure would not be financially sensible and the layout was unsuitable. In 2019 he made the difficult decision to demolish the outdated building. He then constructed a completely new residence on the same site. The new home has been designed to be fully self‑sufficient. By choosing demolition and rebuilding, Martin avoided the higher costs of a Prague apartment while securing a garden and independent utilities.
