An investigation into an illegal reproductive cell trade operating in Istanbul and fourteen other provinces has led to the arrest of eight individuals. The operation was described as a “cell” that facilitated the exchange of gametes outside legal frameworks. New evidence emerged from the phone messages of a suspect identified as Hacer T. Those messages show that commissions were demanded from prospective donors. The messages also reveal that medications required for the procedures were dispatched by courier services. Authorities indicated that negotiations over fees were conducted across national borders. The case highlights the cross‑regional nature of the illicit market.
