Municipalities, housing sector records over 3 million volunteer hours in 1H 2026

RIYADH — The municipalities and housing sector recorded more than three million volunteer hours during the first half of 2026, with more than 179,000 male and female volunteers participating in 6,700 volunteer opportunities. These were carried out through municipalities, municipal authorities, and housing entities, with the participation of nonprofit associations and organizations. The volunteer opportunities covered several areas related to the work of the municipal and housing sectors, including support for housing services, parks and public facilities, pilgrim services, environmental safety, roads, and basic infrastructure. In 2025, the municipalities and the housing sector recorded more than 300,000 volunteers participating in areas including housing, urban landscape improvement, monitoring and inspection, food preservation, dignified care of the deceased, and comprehensive volunteering.The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing stressed its continued oversight of the development of the volunteer work system, empowering its entities and partners, and enhancing integration with the nonprofit sector, contributing to expanding volunteer opportunities, improving the quality of initiatives, and maximizing their social and development impact.
