Mariana Leitão argued that repression is not an acceptable solution to the housing crisis. She stated that using police force and batons against those protesting failing public housing policies is wrong. Leitão believes a state that fails in almost everything cannot rely on repressive force to handle the situation.
"A única solução de um Estado que falha em quase tudo, perante quem protesta o falhanço nas políticas públicas de habitação, não pode ser usar a sua força repressiva sob a forma de cassetete", defendeu Mariana Leitão.
