Despacho sobre urgências pode comprometer assistência a doentes internados, diz Federação Nacional dos Médicos
The National Federation of Doctors (FNAM) has warned that a recent order on emergency staffing could end up compromising care for patients already admitted to hospital. The order was published last week and lays down that doctors working in hospitals' internal emergency departments must support external emergency services whenever pressure situations arise. That requirement is what the federation now contests. In its view, pulling internal emergency doctors away to cover outside surges comes at the expense of the hospitalized. The dispute centers on how frontline staff should be spread when emergency rooms come under strain.
