The organizers of the Ballon d'Or award have explained why articles about different players winning appeared on the prize's website. According to their statement, the pieces were published by mistake: they had been written in advance in case any one of the nominees came out on top. The organizers stressed that nobody knows the final podium. The articles naming Kane, Yamal and Mbappe as winners were therefore not genuine results.
