Lawmakers argued over a proposal to freeze the salaries of senior politicians until 2030. The budget committee debated the government coalition’s suggestion to impose the wage freeze. SPD parliamentarian Jan Síla defended the measure, saying it would give five years to reach a cross‑party agreement on revising the relevant law. He presented the freeze as a way to secure time for negotiation.
