A judge in Cádiz has formally charged five individuals with maritime piracy in Spanish territorial waters. This marks the first time such a charge has been applied to people operating fuel boats for drug traffickers. The group included a Colombian national, an Albanian national, and three locals from Cádiz. They were arrested after ramming a Guardia Civil vessel while attempting to flee. The suspects were detected while supplying fuel to another boat and ended their escape in the Guadalquivir river. All five have been sent to prison.
